Two men were killed in a head-on crash Thursday night on the Interstate 19 overpass at West Valencia Road, Tucson police said.
The crash happened about 10:30 p.m. when William Frank Drake, 56, ran the red light in a red 2006 Chevrolet Spark while speeding westbound on Valencia, police said in a news release.
He collided with a black 2010 Lexus sedan being driven by Anthony Robert Valenzuela, 51, who was turning onto eastbound Valencia from the off-ramp, the release said.
Both men died at the crash scene, police said.
Drake’s failure to stop for the red light and excessive speed are considered the major contributing factors in the crash, the release said. The investigation continues.
