My recent columns have spotlighted the larger companies and organizations driving growth in Tucson and Southern Arizona. But our region’s true foundation lies in the smaller entrepreneurial and family-owned businesses that form the backbone of our economy.
Hannah Wittke is the owner of Cheers to You! Nutrition, located in Oro Valley at North First Avenue and East Tangerine Road. Wittke exemplifies entrepreneurial spirit blended with a remarkable dose of moxie. The business offers nutritional and wellness products, coaching, and community support for anyone seeking to improve their health and transform their lives.
Journey begins with personal need
Wittke’s path to business ownership began with her own health struggles. Coming out of high school, she faced weight and health challenges while searching for a direction that aligned with both her passions and her needs.

While studying business at Pima Community College, she took a part-time job at Cheers to You! Immersing herself in the products she was selling, Wittke experienced dramatic personal transformation — losing weight, gaining muscle, and embracing a holistic approach to healing.
At the same time, the previous business owner was seeking an exit strategy. Wittke’s search for a passionate career path perfectly aligned with Cheers to You!’s mission.
After just four months on the job, the then 22-year-old made a bold decision: she dropped out of college and bought the company. Despite having no formal business experience, she possessed two essential ingredients for entrepreneurial success — vision and passion.
Building more than a business
Wittke’s vision centers on creating a place where customers discover that wellness and community thrive side by side. The business provides health-conscious patrons with meal replacement shakes, B-vitamin teas, aloe vera waters, post-workout shakes, and protein coffees. Beyond products, they offer wellness coaching with personalized nutrition and exercise plans.
What truly sets Cheers to You! apart is Wittke’s concept of creating a “third space.†That’s a gathering place beyond home and work. The environment is open and welcoming, filled with tables that encourage conversation and connection.
After-workout groups, midday social gatherings, after-school crowds and Saturday family meetups exemplify this community spirit. It’s like the famous Cheers bar from the sitcom, but with healthier options.
Weathering the storm
Wittke purchased the business in 2019, and her first year proved both challenging and financially successful. Then came the ultimate test of her resilience: The arrival of COVID-19 in early 2020.
Demonstrating quick thinking and adaptability, Wittke successfully applied for essential business status, allowing her to remain open by providing health services and food. Though limited to takeout service, those brief moments of human connection — even masked and socially distanced — helped sustain both the business and its community through the pandemic’s isolation.
The entrepreneur’s foundation
When I discussed with Wittke how she defied conventional business wisdom — starting young without formal training — she attributed her success to her own personal community and background.
She describes herself as a “math nerd†who manages everything by the numbers, a skill that traces back to selling Girl Scout cookies and always finding ways to earn money. Essential family and friend support provided her foundation.
Vision for the future
Wittke embodies the entrepreneurial spirit that underlies Tucson and Southern Arizona’s business community. As she puts it, “A business will grow as you grow. The future success of a company is made by the vision one holds today.â€
Her vision rests on a fundamental belief in the power of community, connectedness, personal growth, and transformation — values that continue to drive both her business and the lives she touches.
