A 72-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a crash earlier this month that killed a man pushing a disabled car, Tucson police say.
Pedro Samaniego Alvarez, 72, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of manslaughter and three counts of felony endangerment, police said in a news release.
About 11:45 p.m. Nov. 14, Adrian Avalos, 35, was standing in the open driver's side door pushing a disabled 2006 BMW 325 on West Speedway near North Main Avenue, along with two passengers and a Good Samaritan, Tucson police have said.
Police say Alvarez, in a black 2012 Chrysler 200, swerved into the lane, "sideswiping" the BMW. The crash killed Avalos and left the three others with minor injuries, the release said.
Alvarez was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He was arrested at his home.
