The Pima College men's soccer team had its season end at the hands of an old nemesis, falling 1-0 to top-seeded Phoenix College in the national semifinals.
The Aztecs finished 1-3 against Phoenix this year, including the defeat Thursday in Wichita, Kan., in the NJCAA Division II Tournament.
Landon Vree scored the game's only goal in the 26th minute. The Aztecs and Bears had to wait out a lightning storm for over an hour at the 4:34 mark in the first half.
Pima outshot Phoenix 12-8, and couldn't convert on its seven corner kicks.
The Pima College men's soccer team finishes the 2025 season with an 18-4 record and another trip to the national semifinals.

“I thought for the most part, we were in charge of the game. It was being played the way we wanted to. We created some chances that we could have done better with. Their kids made great plays clearing balls off the line. We did everything we could to possibly score a goal and equal that game. At the end of the day, we couldn’t.”
Pima has advanced to the national tournament nine straight years, and has made the semifinals seven times in the past 11 years.
The Aztecs went 18-4 this year and 9-0 at home.
Phoenix (21-1-1) went on to win the national championship, beating CCBC Essex (Md.) 2-0 on Saturday.
Women's basketball
Ahdiayh Chee was 5 for 5 on 3-pointers as the No. 7-ranked Aztecs beat visiting Cuyamaca College 97-35 on Friday.
Reigne Waugh scored a team-high 18 points in the win and added seven rebounds and four steals for the Aztecs (5-2).
Chee finished with 17 points. Kiley Sours-Miller added 16 points and six rebounds.
Ahdiayh Chee had 17 points in Pima's win over Cuyamaca College.
The Aztecs led 53-18 at halftime and 79-24 after three quarters.
Pima won its home opener on Wednesday, beating Yavapai College 109-40 behind Lucy Fisher's 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Pima opens ACCAC play at Phoenix College on Dec. 3.
Men's basketball
Mason Hunt scored 26 points as the Pima men's basketball team stayed unbeaten with a 142-47 rout of visiting Justice University JV on Saturday.
No opponent has come closer than 53 points to the No. 3-ranked Aztecs this season.
Isaac Johnson and Isaiah Hill each scored 20 points for Pima, which led 72-22 at halftime.
Pima also picked up blowout victories last week over Park University-Gilbert JV (170-47 on Wednesday) and Benedictine Mesa JV (161-44 on Friday).
The Aztecs are averaging 145 points per game and are shooting 66% from the field. Johnson leads the team in scoring at 23.2 per contest
Pima opens ACCAC play at Phoenix College on Dec. 3.
