With Week 8 of the NFL underway, the league is at the halfway point of the regular season.
This season has several Tucson-area products and former Arizona Wildcats playing in the NFL.
Here’s a look at how they’re faring:

Connection to Tucson: Cowing played at the UA
How he’s doing: A hamstring injury has sidelined the second-year receiver and returner. Last season, he appeared in 15 games for San Francisco and had four catches for 80 yards as a rookie. Cowing, who owns Arizona’s all-time single-season touchdown record, was used primarily on special teams and had 28 punt returns for 245 yards.

Connection to Tucson: Played for the Wildcats last season
How he’s performing: The seventh-round running back has 73 carries for 377 yards and four touchdowns. Croskey-Merritt’s rushing touchdowns are tied for the 10th-most in the NFL this season. Croskey-Merritt received FedEx Ground Rookie of the Week honors after rushing for 111 yards and two touchdowns in Washington’s 27-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
After the Commanders traded Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler suffered a season-ending Achilles injury, Croskey-Merritt has become one of Washington’s premier running backs, along with Jeremy McNicholas.

How he’s performing: Flannigan-Fowles has one tackle in his first season with the Giants. The linebacker-safety hybrid has 97 tackles, 6.5 stops for loss and an interception in his six-year NFL career.

How he’s performing: The 40-year-old Folk is the only Wildcat from the Mike Stoops era still in the NFL and is back with the Jets after kicking for them from 2010-16. Folk is a perfect 14-for-14 on field goals and 7-for-7 on PATs this season.
Folk has made all five of his field-goal attempts longer than 50 yards this season. Folk made a career-long 58-yard field goal against the Dolphins last month. His 49 points this season is tied for 13th in the NFL. Folk’s 84.76% field-goal rate ranks 25th in NFL history.

How he’s performing: Havrisik was a substitute teacher in Cleveland until the Packers called him for a workout before signing the former UA kicker to replace the injured Brandon McManus, who’s questionable for Green Bay’s matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers for Sunday Night Football.
In back-to-back weeks against the Bengals and Cardinals, Havrisik made all four of his field goals, including a franchise-record 61-yarder last week in Glendale. Havrisik has kicked for the Colts, Rams, Browns, Bills and now Packers since going undrafted in 2022.

Connection to Tucson: Loop kicked at the UA
How he’s performing: With the midseason addition of Havrisik, the Wildcats have the most active kickers in the NFL. The most recent UA kicker to join the NFL is Loop, who was the first Arizona kicker drafted since Folk in 2007. Loop is the first-ever Wildcat kicker drafted by the Ravens.
Even though the Ravens are struggling this season, Loop is 9-for-10 on field goals and 15-for-16 on PATs. Loop’s season-high is a 52-yard field goal he kicked in the season opener against Buffalo.

Connection to Tucson: Lopez played at the UA, and his father, Roy Lopez Sr., was a head coach at Sunnyside High School. Lopez also played at New Mexico State when the Aggies won the Arizona Bowl in 2017.
How he’s performing: The Gilbert native has 12 tackles in his first season with the Lions. Last season, Lopez had 28 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery with the hometown Cardinals.

Connection to Tucson: McMillan played for the UA from 2022-24
How he’s performing: The highest-selected offensive player from Arizona in NFL Draft history hauled in his first touchdown grabs earlier this month against the Dallas Cowboys. McMillan had three catches for 29 yards and two touchdowns in the overtime win over Dallas. McMillan gifted the game ball to his grandfather, Willie McMillan, who celebrated his 75th birthday that day.
Tetairoa McMillan has 24% of Carolina’s targets this season. He leads the Panthers with 30 catches for 413 yards and two touchdowns. The next leader is Xavier Legette, who has 17 catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns. The Panthers are riding a three-game winning streak.

How he’s performing: Morgan has played 342 offensive snaps for the Packers this season — 311 at guard. Morgan, who has played right tackle this season, has been at right guard for the Packers the last two games.

How he’s performing: The fourth-round safety has been a backup to Nick Scott, but has 20 tackles and a forced fumble. Ransom and the Atlanta’s Bijan Robinson, who were both teammates at Salpointe Catholic, shared the field together in the Panthers’ 30-0 win over the Falcons in September.

How he’s performing: Robinson is sixth in the NFL in rushing yards (524). Earlier this month, Robinson was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for recording 19 rushes for 170 yards and a touchdown in a 24-14 win over the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. Robinson has 4,264 yards and 27 touchdowns in two-plus seasons in the NFL.

How he’s performing: Roland-Wallace, who finished his collegiate career at USC, has 10 tackles and an interception this season for Kansas City.

How he’s performing: In the eyes of PFF, Savaiinaea is riding the struggle bus this season. The second-round rookie has the second-worst overall offensive grade (26.8) for offensive linemen in the NFL. Savaiinaea has surrendered 16 quarterback hurries, which is tied for the seventh-most in the NFL this season. He has also allowed three sacks in 395 snaps at left guard this season.

Connection to Tucson: Wallace played at Tucson High
How he’s performing: Wallace signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars during the preseason, but was waived in August. Wallace played two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and, most recently, the Denver Broncos. Wallace was primarily a reserve cornerback but started in Week 13 and struggled against Cleveland Browns receiver and former Bronco Jerry Jeudy, who had nine catches for 235 yards and a touchdown against Wallace last season. The Tucson native was waived by Denver on Christmas Eve. The undrafted Wallace has earned $13.4 million in his NFL career.
