The Foxtrot originated in the United States around 1914. It was named after Harry Fox, a vaudeville entertainer who developed a style of trotting to ragtime music. Today, it is one of the most popular ballroom dances in the world due to its versatility. It is a graceful dance using long walking steps and short quick steps where the dancers seem to be gliding across the floor. Knowing how to Foxtrot will serve you well the next time you find yourself attending a special occasion, such as a wedding, where there is dancing.

Your instructors will be Roger and Linda Shamburg, two experienced teachers and elegant dancers. Beginner and Intermediate Foxtrot will be taught in September on Sundays and Tuesdays in the MountainView Ballroom. The Beginner classes start on Tuesday, September 2, at 5 p.m. and Sunday, September 7 at 3 p.m. Intermediate classes begin on Tuesday, September 2 at 6 p.m., and on Sunday, September 7 at 4 p.m. Classes are FREE for Club members, with non-members able to attend one class to be sure it is a fit before joining. Registration is required, so please sign up online.
