Karla Martinez, middle, helps her daughter Sabrina, 6, with a particularly stubborn piece of yummy cheese while eating pizza from Jozarelli's Italian Street Food with her other daughter Daniella, 9 during Cyclovia. Food trucks were out in force providing all types of meals to all types of customers. A number of activities were staged along the route and from beginning to end with chances for people to enjoy and share in the fun.

Run or ride up and down the streets on Sunday just because you can.

Cyclovia Tucson is closing the streets so you can safely walk, run or ride to the Tucson Botanical Gardens.

This is your chance to experience one of Tucson's favorite events with 25,000-30,000 of your fellow desert dwellers.

It sounds like a ton of people but 70 percent of them bike or walk to the event, so don't stress out too much about parking.

1. Everyone wins

It's not a race. There's no official starting or ending point, you can jump in at any time. This event is about learning something new, eating local, meeting other cool people and having fun. Visit any of the for stuff to do, food trucks and information booths. Bring your neighbor, your cousin, your best friend, your month-old baby and your grandma, everyone is welcome.

2. It's not just for bicyclists

Ditch your car! You can ride but you can also walk or run if you want without worrying about sharing the street with a car. Cyclovia brings balance to public spaces by closing it for cars and opening it up to everyone that doesn't have a car or just doesn't want to use their car.

3. Experience or see something new in Tucson

Cyclovia's 2.25-mile  extends through neighborhoods you might have never head of before: ride or walk through Miramonte, Palo Verde and The Garden District Neighborhoods.

4. There are so many giveaways and activities

Pick up a Cinco for Cyclovia card, climb the rock wall, attempt the zip line and see some butterflies. There are 24 activities on the card. You can win some pretty cool prizes — including a bike! — just for filling out the card, read all about it . (PS: WE ARE ONE OF THEM! Come see us in the botanical gardens).

5. Free admission to the Tucson Botanical Gardens

Yeah, if you've never been to the gardens before, here's your chance. Be mesmorized by the colorful butterflies and keep your jaw from dropping when you see the Frida Kahlo exhibit.

Dressed in his best pirate attire, Rowan Zabik, 4, gets ready to disembark the Jolly Roger, a bicycle decorated to look like a ship, along with his parents, Shoshana Mayden, left, and Keith Zabik as they forage for some snow cones along the Cyclovia route.

Don't forget to ...

• Wear your helmet.

• Dress for a warm day. It's going to be around 90 degrees that day. Suncreen.

• Bring money for food and snacks.

• Take a second to stop and experience the activity hubs.

• Yield to pedestrians. Bicyclists, watch out for pedestrians. Walkers, there are no sidewalks on Dodge Boulevard so you'll share the road with the bicyclits.
