The restrictions on Mount Lemmon won't sideline the popular Music on the Mountain series on Sunday, the organizer said.
Bonnie Vining, whose Live Acoustic Venue Association organizes the Sunday afternoon series at Summerhaven, said the mountain village is the only place that is not closed off. Officials on Monday said they will restrict access to Mount Lemmon and close Sabino Canyon at noon today as part of a plan to shut off the entire 2 million-acre Coronado National Forest because of extreme fire danger.
That means those driving to Mount Lemmon can pull off only at Summerhaven. Camping and hiking are closed.
Bad News Blues Band headlines this week's concert, which begins at noon Sunday. An open acoustic jam session starts at 11 a.m.
Music on the Mountain kicked off May 22 and runs through Labor Day weekend, attracting audiences ranging between 200 and 600. As the temperature rises, the audience swells, said Vining.
