A 19-year-old woman who crashed into a streetlight late last month on the city's south side has died from her injuries, Tucson police said.
About 2:30 a.m. May 29, Briyana Aileen Sanchez was traveling west on West Valencia Road when she lost control of a 2001 Honda Civic and struck a streetlight in the median near South Mission Road, Tucson police said Friday in a news release.
Police were notified Thursday by Banner University Medical Center that Sanchez had died, the release said.
"Investigators found alcohol in the vehicle and believe impairment is a factor; however, due to her condition, officers were unable to evaluate the driver for impairment," the release said.
