Sahuarita's police chief has apologized for a stray bullet that struck a playground in Marana this week during firearms training.
There were no injuries, but Chief John Noland says his department will conduct an internal probe and take action should an officer be found to have handled a weapon neglectfully, according to a post on Facebook.
The stray shot occurred Wednesday while an officer was practicing at the Marana Shooting Club Facility.
“The department will act swiftly to implement any needed corrections and will look for opportunities to implement additional training for our officers,” Noland wrote.
