Construction workers excavating Thursday for a road-widening project northwest of Tucson found human remains, authorities said.
Workers called 911 after the discovery near West Twin Peaks and North Silverbell roads where a major road-widening project is underway. The remains were located on private property recently acquired by the Town of Marana, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
Detectives were on the scene Friday morning and confirmed that the remains were human.
All construction work at the site has been suspended during the investigation.
