A 47-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Monday morning in midtown, Tucson police say.
Omar Del Ra Soto was killed in the collision, which occurred at about 4:30 a.m. at East Broadway and South Craycroft Road, the Tucson Police Department said.
Police gave the following account in a news release:
Soto, driving a Honda Civic, was making a left turn from northbound Craycroft onto westbound Broadway on a green traffic signal.
A Kia EV6, headed east on Broadway, failed to stop for the red traffic light at Craycroft.Â
The Kia, which was speeding in the 35 mph zone, struck the driver side of the Honda.
Soto died at the scene.
The Kia driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. There, an officer from the Impaired Driving Enforcement Unit determined the driver was not impaired by alcohol and or drugs at the time of the crash.Â
