, son of the late reggae royalty Bob Marley, brings his “Circle of Peace Tour” to , 17 W. Congress St., on Tuesday, July 23.

Marley comes here months after the release of “One Love,” a biopic of his father that he co-produced. In his 40-year career, the Emmy- and Grammy-winning musician, producer, humanitarian and activist has fused funk, blues and rock with the reggae of his native Jamaica.

He comes here with the Boston-born funk jam band Lettuce, which was among the headliners of the 16th annual Gem & Jam Festival at the Pima County Fairgrounds in late January.

A punk rock town

Apparently, Tucson is a punk rock town.

Tickets for Friday’s Local Love Presents “Punk Fest” at 191 Toole are long gone and have been for some time.

That’s bad news for fans of Arizona punk bands Midnight Island, ManSlaw, PS9, The Besmirchers, Gutter Town, Bleach Party USA and Something Like Appropriate.

The show on Friday, July 19, covers a whole array of punk styles, from Tucson band The Besmirchers’ raw self-described “mentally deranged ‘(expletive) you’” brand of punk to Gutter Town’s country- and folk-infused cowpunk.

The show starts at 7 p.m. at 191 Toole, 191 E. Toole Ave. Details:

Laugh away the week

Rising comedian George Pérez, who has appeared on Comedy Central, Showtime and MTV’s “Yo Momma” showcase, brings his ha-has to Mint Bar on Saturday, July 20.

Perez’s standup, which he started doing as a teen growing up in Orange County, California, plays off his personal observations as he navigates street life, fatherhood and shattering stereotypes.

Saturday’s show at Mint, 3540 E. Grant Road, starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 through .

Making up for lost time

As far as we can tell, we haven’t seen Portland indie rockers on a Tucson stage since they played the in 2006.

The band is making up for lost time when they circle back to the Rialto for a concert at 8 p.m. Friday, July 19. Chicago indie rockers Ratboys open the show.

Fans know what to expect from this quintet that’s been making music for 24 years. Their lyrics are often rooted in folklore and history and it’s not uncommon to see the members reenact a famous battle or historical scene on stage.

Sometimes those segments include audience participation, which longtime fans often say is the highlight of any Decemberists show.
