Heat exposure has been identified as the cause of death for a woman who was hiking last month in Oro Valley, authorities say.
Lyn Lagergren, 53, died Aug. 30 while she and a friend hiked Linda Vista Trail, a popular area east of North Oracle Road near West Calle Concordia.
Temperatures were near 100 degrees when Oro Valley police received a call about 1:45 p.m. reporting that that two women were possibly injured on the trail.
Lagergren died at the scene. Her companion was hospitalized.
The Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Lagergren's death accidental.
Earlier in August, the body of William Charlton, 28, was found after he'd been missing for days after going on a hike July 30. His death was also accidental and due to heat exposure, the medical examiner also said.
