The Pima Regional Critical Incident Team has been activated to investigate a nonfatal shooting early Sunday morning involving Pima Regional SWAT officers, authorities said Monday afternoon.
A 29-year-old man who was firing a gun after an hours-long standoff with officers was struck by gunfire as SWAT officers fired back, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said in a news release. He was taken to a hospital; no information was provided about his condition. His name wasn't released.
There were no injuries to law enforcement or community members.
The release gave the following account:

Detectives with the PCSD Domestic Violence Unit, along with members of the Pima Regional Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Bomb Squad, and the PCSD K-9 Unit responded to assist. Negotiators established communication with the man but were unable to persuade him to surrender.
"At 5:18 p.m., the subject began to fire rounds indiscriminately from the apartment and continued to do so over the course of approximately 10 hours."
Shortly after midnight, the man left the apartment and again started to fire rounds. Members of SWAT returned fire, striking him; their names were not released.
The man was taken to a hospital. Criminal charges will be filed against him at the end of the investigation, the news release said.
It is standard procedure for the Pima Regional Critical Incident Team to investigate shootings involving law enforcement officers.
