Trump Administration Taps $5.25B In Emergency Funds To Keep Snap Running As Shutdown Extends
The Trump administration will cut food aid in half for 42 million Americans as the government shutdown drags on. The USDA said $5.25 billion in emergency funds will partially cover SNAP benefits following court orders in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said payments could start Wednesday.
