The Pima women’s soccer team fought off a late rally by scoring its own clutch goal, as Yajaira Cervantes notched the game-winner on a penalty kick with 2:08 left Wednesday.

The goal gave Pima a 3-2 win at Glendale CC.
The No. 13-ranked Aztecs improved to 8-1-5 overall and 8-0-3 in the ACCAC. Glendale is 5-4, 5-4.
Ava Dagnino scored Pima’s first goal off an assist from Ashley Martinez in the 16th minute to make it 1-0. Cervantes then put Pima up 2-0 with a goal off an assist from Dagnino in the 30th minute.
The Gauchos scored two late goals to tie it up, finding the net in the 77th and 82nd minutes.
Cervantes now has 12 goals on the season.
Dagnino was named the NJCAA and ACC Division II Player of the Week for last week. The Salpointe Catholic High grad helped Pima go 2-0-1 by scoring four times and assisting on another goal.

Men’s soccer
Host Glendale CC snapped Pima’s 10-game winning streak with a 2-1 win over the No. 4 Aztecs on Wednesday.
Robert Castaneda tied the game for Pima with a penalty kick in the 25th minute to make it 1-1. The Gauchos got their goals in the 22nd and 81st minutes.
Pima (12-2, 9-2) plays at Paradise Valley CC at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Volleyball
The Aztecs dropped their final nonconference volleyball match of the season Wednesday, losing 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 25-27, 15-12) at Central Arizona in Coolidge.
Maggie McReynolds had 15 digs and 12 kills for the Aztecs (7-11), while Julia Baird notched 12 kills and seven blocks. Breeze Schelter had 22 assists in the loss.
Pima was set to host No. 9 Mesa CC at 7 p.m. Friday.
