Arizona picked up a high-profile transfer Friday, announcing the addition of Big East Player of the Year Grace Jenkins of UConn.
Jenkins, who’s from Folsom, California, hit .424 this past season, the second-highest batting average in Huskies history. She also notched program records in home runs (21), doubles (19), runs scored (65), walks drawn (39) and total bases (193).

UConn catcher Grace Jenkins winds up to throw against Georgia Tech on Feb. 10, 2023, in Atlanta.
Jenkins, who will be a senior next season, primarily played catcher for UConn. Arizona is listing her as a utility player.
The Wildcats bring back All-Big 12 catcher Sydney Stewart, as well as rising sophomore Emma Kavanagh. It’s likely that those three will split time among catcher, first base and designated player.
Jenkins is the sixth transfer to sign with Arizona in this cycle, joining infielder Sereniti Trice, outfielders Addison Duke and Tele Jennings, and pitchers Jalen Adams and Jenae Berry.
