Saturday night was a two-fer for the Tucson Sugar Skulls.
Not only did the Sugar Skulls take down the Arizona Rattlers 50-47 in comeback fashion to beat their in-state rival for the second time this season, Tucson won its first-ever triple-overtime game in franchise history.
Tucson trailed 21-9 at halftime, but rallied to beat the Rattlers at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale. It’s the first time the Sugar Skulls beat the Rattlers in Glendale since 2023.
The Sugar Skulls’ triumph snapped Tucson’s (4-6) three-game losing streak. The Rattlers (7-4), the defending IFL champions, are now on a three-game losing streak following the setback to Tucson.
Tucson won the regular-season series against the Rattlers for the first time in franchise history. The Sugar Skulls are 4-11 against the Rattlers since joining the IFL in 2019.
