A 53-year-old man was airlifted to a Tucson hospital today, after he was attacked by bees while trimming a tree at the Tubac Golf Resort and Spa, officials said.
Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a 911 call shortly before 1 p.m., from a man who said his coworker was attacked while trimming a tree, said Sheriff Tony Estrada.
The victim was using an aerial lift to trim the tree, when a branch broke and the bees went right for his face and head, Estrada said.
Ignacio Arellano, who works as a landscaper for the Tucson company Landtamers, was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital.
Shortly after 3 p.m., Arellano was reported to be conscious, alert and talking to the nurses, Estrada said.
On Wednesday, a 75-year-old man died after being stung more than 100 times while golfing at the Rio Rico Golf Club, Estrada said.

An employee of the club called 911 after finding Ralph Heintz slumped over in his golf cart, which was parked next to a pond on the course.
Paramedics arrived to treat Heintz and were able to remove about 40 of the stingers, but Heintz still did not survive his injuries, Estrada said.
On Monday, a Tucson man died after a bee attack on the southwest side of town.
