A man with a history of DUI arrests has been arrested in connection with Monday night's hit-and-run pedestrian crash, officials say.

Christopher J. Lopez, 37, faces charges including aggravated DUI and leaving the scene of a collision with serious injury, according to Tucson police spokesman Sgt. Pete Dugan. 

The pedestrian was hit as he was crossing East Broadway near North Campbell Avenue, Dugan said. Police believe he was in a crosswalk at the time of the incident. 

The pedestrian is currently in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, said Dugan.

Lopez was booked into the Pima County jail on a $21,000 bond.

According to court documents, Lopez has a history of DUI arrests and failure to appear in court.

In 2015, Lopez was cited for driving with a suspended license in Casa Grande and failed to appear in court. A warrant was issued for his arrest in August of this year.

In May of this year, Lopez was cited for DUI and driving with a suspended license in Tucson. He failed to appear in court and a warrant was issued for his arrest last week. 

In August of this year, Lopez was cited for disorderly conduct and a marijuana violation in South Tucson. He failed to appear in court. 

In September of this year, Lopez was cited for DUI in Tucson. A warrant was issued for his arrest last week.
