A psychiatrist who once practiced in Tucson has been convicted in abstentia of one count of sexual assault, thirty counts of sexual abuse and three counts of fraud, the state Attorney's General's Office said.
Dr. Muhammad Saeed, 57, was convicted June 19 by a jury in Pima County Superior Court. Saeed, who practiced in Arizona from 2004-2020, is believed to have fled to Pakistan prior to prosecution. He remains a fugitive, state prosecutors said Wednesday in a news release.
Three former patients each testified at trial and described the touching and multiple instances of abuse they experienced. Some patients in Saeed's care overdosed on the controlled substances that he prescribed, the release said.
"This doctor abused his doctor-patient relationships and took advantage of his position of power to prey on the women in his care," Attorney General Kris Mayes said in the release.
