Tucson police arrested Johnny Gomez on Dec. 25 in connection with a fatal wreck two days earlier.Â
On Dec. 23, Gomez, 27, was driving a Honda Accord around 11:15 p.m. on North Castro Avenue when he passed a vehicle on the left that was stopped for a stop sign at West Glenn Street. He failed to stop for the stop sign and hit the driver-side of an SUV that was traveling westbound on West Glenn Street.
The impact pushed the SUV through a block wall and into an unoccupied residence, Tucson police said in a news release. Nine people, including Gomez, were injured and taken to Banner University Medical Center.
William Childers, the 40-year-old passenger in the vehicle driven by Gomez, died Dec. 24 from injuries sustained in the wreck, police said.
Police said the Honda Accord Gomez was driving had been reported stolen on Dec. 18.Â
