You can make a strong case that Pima College men's soccer coach Dave Cosgrove has been, year after year, the most successful coach in Tucson, any sport, for more than a decade.
Since 2013, for example, the Aztecs have gone 212-38-15 (85% success rate) with two NJCAA championships and five berths in the "Final Four" of men's JC soccer.
The Pima College men's soccer team finishes the 2025 season with an 18-4 record and another trip to the national semifinals.
What makes Cosgrove's record more impressive is that he has a winning record against perennial superpower Phoenix College in that span. Phoenix College last week won the NJCAA national title after escaping with a 1-0 semifinal victory over Pima. The Aztecs and Bears form what is probably the top rivalry in Arizona junior-college sports.
This year, Phoenix College won three of the four matches against Pima by a slim margin of 8-5. The Bears have gone 67-7-9 the last four seasons, reaching the NJCAA Final Four every season. Yet they are just 6-5-2 against the Aztecs in their last 13 matches. What a rivalry, huh?
