As an anti-Zionist American Jew, I find that the Hernandez campaign's appropriation of antisemitism to promote Islamophobia represents the pale underbelly of American politics.
To falsely accuse others of antisemitism requires two arguments.
First, any criticism of Israeli policies or any acknowledgment of Israel’s war crimes in Gaza must be cast as an attack on Israel’s right to exist — as though the state couldn’t survive without starving the people of Gaza.
Second, the State of Israel has to be conflated with all Jews. Israeli politicians, as well as many American ones, and such mainstream American Jewish organizations as the ADL have long promoted this conflation of Jews with Israel and criticism of Israel with antisemitism.
That Team Blue tolerates the thuggish behavior demonstrated in Bisbee in the interest of "fair and balanced" politics shows how ethically bankrupt is the DNC, its officers, lackeys, stooges.
