A Tucson man has been charged in the illegal sale of devices that convert semi-automatic guns into machine guns, federal authorities say.
ATF agents say Damien Jax Schaffer, 45, illegally manufactured and sold 15 machine gun conversion devices between May and June, according to news release from the US Attorney General's Office in Arizona.
"These devices are used to allow semi-automatic firearms, like Glocks, to expel more than one projectile with a single press of the trigger, effectively converting a semi-automatic firearm into a machine gun," the news release said.
Those conversion devices must be registered with ATF in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record, the release said.
ATF determined that his devices were not registered to anyone. Agents also learned that Schaffer does not possess a federal license to sell firearms, the release said.
